The natural history of the majority of HCC patients is predictable. Survival is usually short,
with death occurring within a few weeks to months after diagnosis. IS. 35 However,
occasional long-term survivors have been reported in several series, including patients both
responding and not responding to a particular therapy. Clinical features have been identified
that help predict survival, allowing for comparison of patient populations in different studies.
